Economic regulation bill to set transport pricing

The term economic regulation will be the new words in the transport world with the passing of the Economic Regulation of Transport (ERT) Bill allowing for the setting up of a Single Transport Economic Regulator (STER) office which will be able regulate pricing across all areas of the transport, ports and harbours sector.
The STER will be “independent” from the Department of Transport (DoT) in a structural sense of the word, the incumbent regulator having powers in law as the functionary authorised to bring economic regulation in terms of transport prices for the industry
